Rooted in ancestral wisdom, crafted for modern skin.
Rootstock Balm returns to the oldest form of skincare — rendered grass-fed tallow, as close to your skin's own language as nature allows.

Grass-fed Tallow Tallow is the cornerstone of Rootstock Balm — and for good reason. Its fatty acid profile is nearly identical to the oils your skin naturally produces, meaning it absorbs without sitting on top or clogging pores. Rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, it works at a cellular level — softening rough texture, rebuilding a compromised skin barrier, and restoring suppleness to dry, tired skin. Grass-fed sourcing matters here: pasture-raised animals produce tallow with significantly higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), an omega fatty acid known to support skin regeneration and reduce inflammation. The result is skin that feels genuinely fed — not just coated.

Cold-pressed Jojoba Oil Jojoba is technically a liquid wax — and that distinction is everything. Because it structurally mimics your skin's own sebum, it absorbs almost invisibly, leaving no greasy residue. It works as a natural regulator: it signals to oily skin to produce less oil, while delivering deep, lasting moisture to dry skin. Rich in iodine, it supports a healthy skin microbiome and helps keep bacteria at bay. Jojoba also acts as a carrier, helping the tallow and botanicals penetrate deeper into the skin rather than staying at the surface. The result is soft, balanced skin that feels comfortable all day.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol) Vitamin E is one of the most well-researched skin nutrients in existence — and in Rootstock Balm, it pulls double duty. As a powerful antioxidant, it neutralises free radicals caused by sun exposure, pollution, and daily stress — the invisible damage that accelerates ageing and dullness. It also actively supports skin repair: fading the appearance of scars, dark spots, and uneven tone over time while strengthening the skin's moisture barrier. Paired with tallow's natural vitamin E content, this added boost means your skin is protected and healing every time you apply.

Calendula (Healing Balm variant) Calendula has been used in herbal medicine for centuries — and modern research has confirmed what our ancestors knew. Its flavonoids and triterpenoids make it one of the most effective plant-based anti-inflammatories available. On the skin, it visibly reduces redness, soothes irritation, and accelerates the healing of dry patches, minor wounds, eczema flares, and compromised skin. It also stimulates collagen production, making it as restorative as it is calming.

Chamomilla (Healing Balm variant) Chamomilla — the active extract of chamomile — contains a compound called bisabolol, which penetrates deep into the skin to calm inflammation at its source rather than just masking it on the surface. It is particularly effective for reactive, rosacea-prone, or post-procedure skin. Bisabolol also enhances the absorption of the other active ingredients around it, making the entire Healing Balm formula work harder. Skin that is red, stressed, or struggling to heal responds visibly and quickly.

Colloidal Oatmeal (Aloe & Oat variant) Colloidal oatmeal is finely milled oat that has been clinically recognised by the FDA as a skin protectant. It forms a fine, breathable film over the skin that locks in moisture while physically relieving itch, irritation, and the tight, uncomfortable feeling that comes with very dry or eczema-prone skin. Its beta-glucan content feeds the skin's microbiome, supporting long-term barrier health rather than just providing temporary relief.

Aloe Vera (Aloe & Oat variant) Aloe is 99% water — but it is structured water, carrying polysaccharides and enzymes that penetrate the skin quickly to deliver deep, lasting hydration without heaviness. It cools inflammation, reduces redness, and speeds up the skin's natural repair process. Combined with tallow's richness, aloe adds a lightness and freshness to this variant that makes it ideal for warmer months, post-sun exposure, or anyone who finds heavy creams overwhelming.
